I am trying to build a fuel system that will support 600hp plus. I want to use my stock tank with external pumps and was wondering if this arrangement will work?

From the stock 3/8 pickup use a 'T' fitting, one side goes to the 'in' side of the pump, the other side goes to the 'out' side of my pressure regulator. I also want to know what the pros and cons are between using 2 pumps inline (hooked up in series) or 2 pumps into a 'Y' fitting ( hooked up in parallel )

I'd also like to know if I can use one pump as my primary pump, and have the second one triggered by a pressure switch.

I allready have a pair of Walbro 255 hp pumps, (for external mounting) and am running 1/2 inch fuel line to the fuel rail, and 3/8 fuel line back to the 'T' for the return line.

Are you saying your going to tee the return into the feed at the top of the tank at the pick-up?

That's the theory, yes. I believe that is the same as using a corvette style fuel filter (the one that incorporates a regulator) There is only 1 line coming out of the tank, other than the 'vent' lines, if I return it to one of those the fuel would be going into the tank like pee in a bucket...

pics of said setup and car would be awesome, since i am doing something similar in the next few months on my 72 ss

If you do it this way, use a one way valve in the return line to keep fuel from flowing into it. Also, here's some info from Kinsler on fuel tanks and fuel injection.
