Default 241 heads.

Im looking to get my 241 heads worked over. What would be recommended to get a little more performance out of them? What are the chambers (cc)? What benefit would there be to having them milled to 59cc? Cam will be a TSP 224R cam or the 228R. Im looking to get a little more out of these heads. I currently have 853's on my TA and picked up these 241's cheap. And I did search but didnt find what I wanted.

Alot of folk's don't really like to put any work into the 241's.. But a good professional valve job, and some additional head work w/o going to crazy can offer some substantial gains for minimal $$$...

Yea im not looking for 500rwhp. Just some gains over stock 853's without spending $1000. I picked these heads up from a friend for next to nothing so if I could get them mildly p&p and keep stock valves I would be happy.

What would be a good cc to have them milled to match TSP 224R cam on a 112. And what gasket would be recommened to go with the heads?

You can increase the performance on a 241. Mill them for compression, get a valve job (find someone reputable by you), have it blended into the bowl, some minor pocket porting and shortside cleanup will net you 85-90% of the gain from a max effort port on a 241. Just make sure whoever does them has done some LS heads before or at least uses a sonic checker.. there are some areas where you can hit water pretty easy then that has to be welded back up. You will also need to upgrade springs and pushrods.. I can't give you prices but there are speed shops all over. Look for someone who builds race engines (machine shops). I personally won't be selling/porting "customer" heads for another 2 months or I'd offer to take the job.

Get the 228R on a 112 over the 224R on a 112. Im kinda in the same boat as you id like to get some heads but kinda in a crunch for money and was wondering what gains come from 241's relatively cheap? A set of untouched 243's is still about 500 if im not mistaken? Although I think im gonna save up for a while for some PRC stg 2.5 5.3 heads new or used or get some used AFR 205's
