Default Need help - alarm/key fobs stopped working

Not sure what's happened. The alarm key fobs have been working fine toady, used 8 times. When I got home I got out of the car, opened the trunk to get the shopping and closed it. Shut the door and went to lock the car - nothing. The light on the fob flashes but the car doesn't seem to do anything.

Same with the spare key, which was also working fine a few days back.

The car is a 1999 Camaro z28 with factory alarm & immobiliser.

I can lock/unlock the car with the key and the alarm doesn't sound. The immobiliser arms (LED by shifter goes red). And prevents the engine from starting.

If I stick the key in the ignition and press the unlock button multiple times the immobiliser does seem to switch off. But there's no beep, no flash of the turn signals and the central locking doesn't do anything.

Anyone help???

It's cold, wet and snowy here in the UK at the mo, not sure if this has any bearing on it...

Change the battery.

I will, but I don't think its that. As both fobs worked fine with no reduced range and then both stop at exactly the same moment. Seems a bit too fishy to just be the battery.

No one else ever had issues with their alarm?
