Default LT1 Turbo intake manifolds?

Are there any aftermarket manifolds out there for the LT1 cars? Im tubro charging my car so i was thinking about porting it but then i started thinking about how for the ls1 there are so many options. So what are my options? Porting my OEM manifold? Swapping out an lt4? aftermarket?

PLUS out of all options, whats best for turbo charging? A 58mm throttle body with a ported intake? I know edlebrock makes one but its the only one ive ever seen. Also, are there any that change the looks?

Everyone is hellbent on replacing the LT1 intake but the fact they refuse to admit is it actually works pretty well for the overwhelming majority of applications.

The LT4 intake is in no way an upgrade, and neither is the Edelbrock offering. The LT4 is internally the same as the LT1 and the Edelbrock has shown a LOSS of power as compared to stock. More than a decade ago they tried to improve upon it and admitted defeat, these days they seem to have a little less integrity.

Most folks assume you have to swap the intake simply because it is a common and often worthwhile mod on gen 1 and gen 3 motors.

To OP: the 'Best' option will depend on what your goal is. Need more info like, how big are you going? Street or strip? Budget?

To 96capricemgr: I understand that plenty of folks dismiss stock parts as inferior all to easily but, are you saying that there's no better recommendation than the stock LT1 intake for a TURBO application?

My goal immediately is 600bHP. In the nest year im doing a forged internal dropped compression at which point id like 850-900. Budget ill come up with the money i need.Still cheap as possible no sense in throwing money away. I'm planning on going with sts becuase of living in California. At first i'll be sticking with the out of the box kit, and i'm planning on adding an intercooler im researching my options for that now. Sts doesnt make one i guess. i can upgrade parts as necessary later like turbo and cold side.

I would stick with the stocker...unless you get some big heads that will need more airflow

The stock intake is in no way perfect, BUT genuinely improving on it and fitting the car is no small task, so in the end the stock intake is a pretty good choice.

Running FI I would think it would be less of a restriction that a N/A car. I know a local car that ran 10.89 with a stock top end including cam with a single turbo. His name on here is Skinnies. I think he was on race gas and it was a forged 355.

I just go with a ported stocker and you'll be fine unless you want an all out race motor.

The stock intake works ok ....but its got a bad air distribution issue and cause of it the plugs get fouled out and the tune has to be drasticly modifiy to adjust for it..

Once I put a e-vic jr. intake oin the car all my plug issues were gone and the car pulled harder on the top....also I had a Nitrous Dave elbow, that fit uder the stock hood of the car....That one modification "carb intake" made the car way more able to drive on a daily basis, and the car seem to run cleaner too....I would recomend it for every Lt1 car out there.

I thought about this same mod for my car time and time again, thinking that the air distribution CANNOT be optimal by any means, and the runner length has to help.

many people have informed me that it's a bad idea to do so, and that they have tested this on their car with back-to-back results from stock to singp\le plane, and lost power.

doesn't LSA and ICL have a lot to do with the plenum volume on an intake? I mean, if it's all one big air pump, you're not gonna spec out the same cam for one intake design as you would another. same as a cam for stock heads vs. those from AI or LE...

one day, when I get enough money to throw away at my car (it might be a while) I'm gonna see what it takes to make a single plane GAIN power on my car.

whatever it takes...
