Default Fuel Issue: Problems Starting...Pressure Bleeds Down...???

This has been one of the most frustrating things on my car by far. I have been having issues starting my car where I will turn the key and have to hold it for 2-4 seconds before it fires off.

Sometimes, it will catch and sputter up to about 200 rpms and then die immediately and I will have to crank again. Its a 50/50 shot as to whether I will have a problem or not, doesn't matter if its cold start or hot. Did a Pressure Check and the car gets up to around 55 or 60 and then bleeds down rather quickly, but after pulling my injectors, noticed that no fuel is leakin out, so they should still be good.

This has been ongoing for several months now and has now just started getting real bad. I have a Walbro pump but I am thinking it has nothing to do with that since my pump would have probably died by now.

What could it be?!?

Thanks!

-Karl

I believe that the pump has a checkvalve of some sort in there that bleeds down pressure if it gets too high. I think.

are you throwing any codes?

check to make sure your intake manifold is torque'd to spec. there is a specific order you have to tighten them in

replace fuel filter, check air filter, check maf, replace plugs if that are over 25k miles old

before you cold start it, turn the key forward so that all the accessories come on and dash lights come on. leave it like that for about 10 seconds (find your station or song on the cd player) then try starting it.

or try cold starting it with your foot down on the pedal. should crank up first try

Check valve in your fuel pump, same thing happened to mine a few weeks ago. You can prime your pump 2 or 3 times before you start it and it should start up ok, or just get a new pump.

I'm having the same problem. As said above I put my foot on the gas pedal just slightly and it starts fine. I think it is also the checkvalve not holding pressure, haven't had time to drop the tank and see what it is for sure yet.

None of that stuff has anything to do with the fuel pressure bleeding off.

Yes it's in the pump. I dont know anything about the regulator, but after I put my new pump in it starts up fine.
