Default Cable operated cutout? Do you have one?

So I'm gonna be getting a cutout and I ran across one of these cable operated ones for 50 bucks on summit. That's about 130 less than if I got the electric...

So does anyone have one and how do you like it?

i hope to god you looked at the specs on the thing. the one in summit only will take a pipe that is 2". so i would go with a regular cut out or the electric one.

It was just an example, I know i'll be able to find a 3" one.

I simply wanted to know what people think of the cutouts that are cable operated.

Electric is the only way to go. I neve owned a cable operated one. But the manual ones with wing nuts suck. The gasket sucks, getting under the car sucks. You willl get tried of that crap real fast. Save some money and buy the electric ones.

oh damn 3 wingnuts, dont break a sweat. i had 2 reg cutouts behind the collectors on my z28. i didnt even have gaskets on them

on my current car im probably just going to put a cutout on the i pipe before the axle. im not gunna pay for a E-cutout cuz its "so much effort" to get on my back for 2 minutes and unscrew some wingnuts.

Obviously everyone has there reasons. When a cop is around why wouldn't you want to cap your cutout at the flick of a switch, especially when being pulled over...there are more reasons and everyone has them, so please don't aruge about it. I simply want to know:

Does anyone have a cable cutout?

not trying to start a arguement. i guess if you plan on openeing and closing your cut-out often a e-cutout would be usefull. i only opened mine at the track, so maybe only 5-6 times a year.

the old school racers used to use them
they suck plain and simple. they way they work, they do ok for a while, but then the valve starts to leak or you have to readjust the cable or something gets caught on it.

dont waste the $50.

good luck finding one for a 3inch. you seem set on getting one. so when you do let us know how it worked out for you. ive had them on my 70 gto they get full of carbon and then you have to clean them out so the flap works smooth on them. they are a pain.

Yeah, but is your car slammed?

After opening mine two different times, I wish I had popped for electric in the first place. And I only have one in the I pipe.

Electric cutouts are nice.

Buy yourself an electric, they're much nicer. So save your pennies and get one.

Major PITA!!! Had one in my old Formula... didn't seal great and cable is a bitch to get it to close right! After all the fighting and wasted time i went with an electric one.... I would not recommend one....

I have wingnut ones on mine...they're a pain and my car isn't even that low

be a lot easier once I tack weld the bolts in place so I remove them without having to have a wrench on the head of the bolt

the cable ones suck, don't seal for crap
