Default ls1 heads on a 5.3l... good for boost?

Im pulling the heads off my motor and was gonna have them cleaned up. Well i have a line on a set of ls1 heads with stainless valves, cleaned up the ports and bowls and better springs, no mill work so stock size chambers. If my compression is 9.8-1 (i think thats stock 5.3 size) what would ls1 heads drop me down to? In turn ill be able to boost more? Or just rock the stock 5.3 heads?

Normal lm7 lm4's are 9.5 to 1 with 61cc heads. Going to the ls1 64cc chambers would drop you down to around 9.2 to 1. Assuming you keep a .057 headgasket. I'm using a 5.3 for my project(aluminum lm4) using 5.3 heads from patriot cut down to 59cc's and a .027 headgasket which should put me around 10 to 1. 9.2 to 1 is plenty for off boost driving.

thats good, not too much compression drop but a little more will help with boost. I have a line on a set from a engine builder who builds my buddys motors and hes giving me a hell of a deal with bigger stainless valves and cleaned up ports and bowls so then no hot spots eaither. AND comes with a valvetrain already too. The set for $400 complete.

241s are 67cc and on a 5.3/4.8 the SCR would be around 8.8
