Thumbs down tranny woes

My tranny grinds when I shift into fifth, it was rebuilt about 8 months ago. I'm gonna change my fluid to normal atf fluid, see if anything changes cuz now I have amsoil synthetic, its always been notchy, so hopefully thats it. Any thoughts or suggestions? Anything would help

sometimes your clutch hydraulics can be a culprit in grinding...

yea my understanding was that anything synthetic in your tranny or rearend is a no-go, too slippery for the syncros to work properly.

Looks like the tranny's coming out, changed it to regular ATF fluid and it shifts alot better but fifth has the same problem. I actually had Mobile 1 synthetic fluid in it, not Amsoil. I hope its under warranty.

You could of damaged the 5-6 pads and blocker ring for 5th. The stock pads are made of plastic and the stock blocker ring is made with a paper backing. We replace the plastic pads with bronz ones and the blocker rings with carbon lined ones. Changing the fluid will not fix the problem if it is synchro related. Give us a call at CMS for pricing.

Thanks man, I think it is synchro related cuz it'll grind 4-5 and I cant down shift form 6-5. I appreciate it but the trans. is still under warranty, plus we have a shop. Thanks tho
