Question 4l60e build gone bad

i recently rebuilt my 4l60e with upgraded parts from tci i took it apart because i lost all gears except 1st and reverse at first thought i figured it was a bad solenoid so i went through it and replaced all of them and still had the same problem than i was told it was my valve body so i replaced it and it also came with all new solenoids. and still have the same problem. could it be a bad torque converter? it really bugs me i did all this and still have the same problem i started with any help would be greatly appreciated. i am dying to get back in it.

If you have 1st and reverse then a converter is not your problem. When you say you have 1st gear do you mean manual low? Does the vehicle move in the OD or D3 position? Stories like yours is why I would recommend having an experienced builder do the job in the first place and this way you are usually ahead of the game. Vince

yes it moves in any spot on the selector i put it in being 1st 2nd drive or overdrive it will go to about 40 just with the rpm s high and it wont shift see i had a company here in town start the build than the ******** went out of business on me just closed shop and left and i ended up getting screwed after giving them 2500 up front so i know a friend who is an auto teacher who went through everything with me me on the build made sure all measurements were in spec we also air checked everything it all worked fine till it was installed in the car and i had the same problem i started with at the time it would shift but only after getting it to around 4 grand and letting completely off now it wont shift at all i was told recently i could have miss measured a clutch pack. i have confidence in my work and am pretty sure i didn't set it up wrong but have no problem going through it all again just wanted some other opinions as i find it weird its the same problem i started with if i had the money to take it in too a tranny shop i would but im scared to get ripped off again and as of right now only have about 800 to play with so kinda don't have a choice but to do it myself i feel its gotta be something simple.

Is this the same trans that was originally in the car mentioned in your original post? Or did you loose that trans when the shop closed up?

Have you had a scanner on the car to check for codes and sorry for your misfortune with the shop/

So if you put the car in the OD position it takes off in first? and just stays there?

Try this , Unplug the round harness on passengers side, The car should then start in 3rd gear in the overdrive position and stay there. This way we will know that if the solenoids are turned off the trans can shift and we can move from there .

ok i disconnected that plug and went for a ride around the block but i dont feel it was in third it did the exact same thing as its been. just putting it in gear wasnt as rough usually when plugged in it kinda jerks when put into drive. so im guessing that there means it is not an electrical problem? and i dont beleive it was in third cuz again it would olnly get to around 45 before red lining also it had enough in it to be able to power brake the tires. i di notice that sround forty it feels as if i have a stall converter even though i dont

Then you have a build problem , What it could be is near impossible to say without tearing down the trans but if you are still in first after unplugging the harness from the trans it is not and electrical issue
