Default 05 GTO "Tune Only" Suprising Results

So my buddy takes his car into synergy motorsports to get his car tuned...His car was an absolute turd from the factory...He only has an intake and nothing else...His base numbers were 295/312 and after they came out with a astonishing 338/348...Thats a net gain of 43HP and 36TQ...It was hard for me to believe until he showed me the graph...Enjoy!

Your thoughts?

The dyno is saying a stock LS-2 only put 295/312 to the wheel's that don't seem right.

Looks good.Seems like he found a problem and fixed it.This is when a tune is really worth it on a stock car.

Yea stock tunes are garbage. I've seen a completely stock car gain 3 tenths/3 mph at the track with a tune alone.

I've always suspected thats how they got those stock LS1 F-bodies in the 12's for the magazines

It's not, the tune must have been really off somehow. The numbers he put down after the tune are spot on for an LS2 GTO.

I know when Vengeance did my tune when my car was stock I gained 10hp and 20tq

I did a Hypertech hand tuner & P&P TB and went 5 tenth's & 4 MPH faster in the 1/4 so i say even a basic tuner help's alot.

That is nice, maybe we should have done something like that a while ago.
Our little 06 was only running 13.5 @102 stock, missing something somewhere. It is an automatic. Sure is worth the cost of the tune there.

Pretty solid gains from a tune. What was timing before the tune and after ??? How about a/f ratio before and after ??

I'll bet she was pig rich from the factory.

I don't understand why the LS2 GTO's don't perform any better than LS1 GTO's. I tuned an '04 GTO with minor bolt ons and it put down 352rwhp. I know you have an A4 and the one I tuned was an M6 which explains a little.

I tuned one and got 45 hp out of it. Nothing was wrong with it. It amazed me.
FWIW, every GTO I've done I got real good results out of. They seem very conservative from the factory.

Conversely, the LS2 Vettes, you gotta scratch and claw for 10-12 hp.

Every one that I've done was very rich, and very conservative on the timing.

I don't know any details on the timing or the A/F ratio...The car is a M6...I would think if he were to add some exhaust to the equation he would see a nice little gain in HP for opening her up...

I'm unlucky like Don; most of the ones I have tuned were 320-340ish stock. My all-time lowest gain from tuning was an 05 GTO that I FOUGHT to get 4-5 out of. It had headers and off road pipes and made 350ish on the base pull. What's nuts is that the AFR actually touched 11.0's in places and NEVER rose above 11.8 on the OEM cal. The car just didn't care WHERE the timing or fuel was at, it spit out the same results.

Man, makes me want to go start development on my 2006. Still never put her on my dyno, and had the car for almost 2 years.

I did run into one like that. Ironically enough, a header install didn't even really pick up anything. That was kind of a freak though. Every other one has been real good to me.

I can assure you the car is an 05, and yes it does have the LS2...He bought the car used, so maybe the previous owner knew something was up...But either way its a nice gain across the chart for just a tune...I will ask him and see where he bought it from...
