LS1 into 78-87 ElCamino
has anyone done this? i am considering it as a future project. i wanted a nice reliable daily driver. i was thinking LS1/ 4L60E from a junk yard or something and just drop it in with the necessary conversion parts. im having trouble making a list of the parts tho. lemme see. (im also considering a LQ4/9)
A/G body LS1 headers
A/G body LS1 motor mounts
4L60E cross member
what to do about gauges?
stock rear handle stock LS1 power w/ posi and gear swap?

There might be a few of us. Theres a 10+ page thread in here if you do a search.
Stock f-body manifolds
Custom mounts using f-body motor side mount
custom crossmember or cut an inch off your th350 one
factory gauges
8.5" Grand nat rear, although theres a bunch of people running the 7.5 stocker
I`ll post some links if I get time later tonight

Its a good swap to do in my opinon. any g-body is a good choice. Aftermarket is building and they are still cheap to get!
I'm running the stock 7.5" , which i think is plenty for a driver. If your going to the track and are serious about time slips then you might want to upgrade to an 8.5" or bigger.
Good luck. My swap is here, https://ls1tech.com/forums/conversio...king-swap.html . There are several people here willing to answer your specific questions regarding this swap.
good luck
