Default LT for an LS

I have a 1997 Camaro Z-28 M6 and I am looking for info on taking the LT1 out and putting LS 1 in what all is need to do the swap? or is it better to put a LT 4 motor in

This is a very common swap and more like a upgrade as all of the parts can be found in the GM parts dept. or in any junk yard.

Your best bet would be to find a junk doner and that way you could remove everything from it and then just replace the parts on your car. You would need everything from the radiator, fans, front accessories, electrical, wiring harness's, PCM, lines. Yes granted you can modify some of your existing parts. But using the later F-Body parts would just make a cleaner installation.

If you could get the LT4 cheap or do the LT4 top end, yes it could be easier and most likely cheaper in the long run. But Hey, its your choice.

Try searching and you will find may early (92-97) Gen 4 F-Body swap.

would everything match up if i swaped the intake and heads over and left the bottom end the same

I would not worry too much about the top end of the engine. I would say that using a later 4th Gen K-Member would make things easier, else you will have to use adapter plates to get the engine mounts to mate to the Gen II frame stands.

doubt it would bolt up ls motors have there own unique style

i think he means the lt4 stuff and yes lt4 heads and intake will bolt on an lt1. gm performance actually sells a kit with the heads cam and intake.

Were would i get something like that and what kind of extra horse power would that give?
