hey guys thanks for all of your help so far, i really appreciate it, I have to get a new tranny too, and yes it is a 700R4, i blowed the stock tranny to hell, im thinking about getting a built TCI with manual valve body and all that good ****, any suggestions here would be great too, when the speed shop built my engine they put a stall on the tranny not a big one its like a 2200 or summin and i dont like it at all, and im wondering if i really need one the cam isnt that big, they put a COMP cam 503 lift and it doesnt even lope that hard, after the car warms up you cant even tell it has a bigger cam, so im thinking i dont even need that thing, any tips here??

Even on a bolt on car I would recommend a 3000+ stall, yet alone a 383 stroker.

ok, but im gonna go back with a 4speed with OD auto and im not gonna really be racing the car on the track or anything, this is just an every day driver more or less like it always was and i thought that a stall was just for racing use pretty much, so i just need to know will the car have any trouble going from a dead stop without a stall since the cam isnt that big...

I doubt you will have trouble with the car from a dead stop but you won't have much power that low. I have a smaller cam (CC305) and I drove it about 6 months without a stall and worked OK, wasn't near as much fun to drive as the stall was. Without the stall I could go full throttle from a dead stop and the car wouldn't spin the tires unitl it hit about 4000 RPM then it would start spinning. A 3400 stall at the track lowered times by .7 in the 1/4 mile.

TCI is not good, and 2200 sounds like a restalled stock unit not a performance converter. When I had a 2800 Edge passengers mistook it for stock at low throttle. Point being a QUALITY converter drives very well even up around 3000 stall. A POS $60 Dayco like I would bet the shop put in your car(probably charged $200) is just a POS wont perform, wont drive well and will build lots of heat.

From the little information you gave us it sounds like almost nothing was done well.

People do things wrong and then think cams and stall are bad, when the reality is their choices were bad.

Put a GOOD stall in it like Edge Yank or Vigilante something in the 2800-3200 if you are afraid of stall and it should drive very well.

Have you done gears yet?? Stock gears will make a stall drive badly.

I am sure about now you are worried about fuel economy, my 3400/3.73 470+flywheel HP sedan gets within a few MPG of my bone stock 2.56/1400/270hp wagon. Gear and stall don't necessarily hurt mileage the way folks expect.
