Default The clunk

I've had a bad clunking noise comming from my rear passenger area for some time. It's heard on bumps...and VERY noticable going over a rock road that has minor imperfections. Exhaust is not rubbing, made same noise before and after installation of control arms. Any ideas?

Shocks are good...can anything be done about the reamed mounting holes? Body side or rearend side? Anyway to check?

jackup rear on jackstands under frame letting the axel hang, then see if there is any movement when you push the tire toward the front or back of the car.

Imma do this tomorrow. If there is slack, is there any way to fix it??I seriously doubt it's the rearend because my old one did it, and this is a completely different sound. I seriously bought lca's/phb and shocks trying to fix it

I will, but because it's doing on on small stuff (rock road) it tends to lead me away from that because the suspension is not really flexing

Mines been doing it also. Sometimes over little bumps and then it wont over huge bumps, which makes me think it isnt chassis flex. I just put BMR LCA's on it a few weeks ago that I had and it didnt help. Guess I have more things to check now also.

Thats a whole new car in the rear now!! Sometimes it makes me want to slam mine into a freaking tree when I hear that clunk also. Next im going to take the whole interior in the rear section out and see if its something in there.

Check your door hinges. Check your driver's door first. Open the door all the way, and lift up on the rear of the door. if there's any wear you'll be alble to tell. The door will move up before the car lifts with it.

My PHB bolt comes loose a bunch. Like, a lot. Not even that much, it's like half a thread, just enough to **** me off, lol. This next time I'm going to locktite that sonofabish... Makes the whole car feel ghetto, lol.

Violently shake the PHB on both ends (one at a time) and see if it makes any noise at all. Tighten it and hopefully that's it.

Also, possibly check the spare tire well?

the wife thinks i'm imagining the noise just to buy more mods at this point....guess ill have to figure it out so I can say the motor is clanking & say my cam is bad

but seriously the only time the clunk doesn't drive me nuts is when i open the cutout

let us know what you find & i'll try to do the same

I had the same sound coming from the driver rear. I replaced my whole suspension and it fixed it. But.... It's coming back. Sometimes it's the hatch that comes loose, but It did go away the first time after replacing the rear suspension. Tighten and torque all bolts, and lube the poly bushings too.

its funny you say that because when i installed all the items (basically at the same time)...the noise was gone, then after a week or two of driving on our wonderful new orelans roads the noise was back

looks like ill take your advise and re lock tite & torque all the bolts, thanks for the advice
