I'm new to the site (duh) and just reading the performance mod threads. I'm the proud owner of a newly cleaned/bored/planed ls1 aluminum block. Got smoked by the guy who sold it to me, and the guy I was building the engine for...long story short, I think I'm going to make a drag car.

Oh, more about me...I've rebuilt a bmw m42 motor in my old SC/'d`92 318is. It was an e36 body M-Technic (looks like M3, but FI 4-banger). It broke the timing chain guides at 180,000...self-destructed, so it was a forced overhaul. Did a ton of other work on that car, but there just isn't that much potential with a 4cyl.

I've also done a lot more non-power work on several cars, but I've always wanted a domestic.

I definitely need to find a ton of parts to build this engine from, I just can't bank roll new parts for a full build from scratch. Hoping for 400hp, and eventually twin turbos (way down the road) Don't have a tranny or body yet either...I was thinking something light...

Of course, my two dream cars are a '76 stingray and a '01 M3 (yeah yeah)
