LS6 oil pump w/ double roller clearance

Default LS6 oil pump w/ double roller clearance

I've done quite a bit of searching on this topic, but I haven't really found a definitive answer yet. Is anyone running a ported LS6 oil pump with a JP double roller on an LS1? I wasn't really planning on swapping the oil pump when I do the cam install, but I found a great deal on one. Will there be any clearance issues I need to be concerned about?

I have a rollmaster double with a ls6 pump and the rollmaster came with shims to push it off the engine about a 1/16 -1/8 inch. The big concern some people have is the chain clearing the timing cover.

Did you have to clearnace yours?

I have the Rollmaster double setup with an ported LS6 pump and so long as you used the shims it works fine. I didnt have to clearance my timing cover at all either.

usually the stock front cover (ls2) is enough, but the aftermarket ones have to be ground. I have not seen an edelbrock one work yet for a double roller, grinding would put it through the cover...

My timing cover cleared too. I removed all the spark plugs and torqued the timing cover down and left the pully off and spun the engine over 20-30 times and then removed the timing cover and checked for any scrapes on the timing cover.

Yea edelbrock and qtp as well from what I heard require grinding on a double row.

well i have not heard of an edelbrock working at all. the qtp will though.

I have the LS1, not the LS2.

I've used some Katech LS6 pumps before with JP t/c sets and clearance was pretty decent with the supplied spacers. It's tighter with a melling though.

Why don't you stop in someday Nick. I have a new single row t/c set from PROGEAR now, that will do the job perfect for you.
