Need some help choosing gears?
I have a 2000 FORMULA FIREBIRD.I have a six speed. I want to run 3.90's for the simple fact everyone i have met with similar cars run 3.73's.So i want a lil more jump on the competition? But i dont want to sacrifice too much top end?? Right? My car is basically only a weekend ryder and to car shows and race tracks. I would like to know peoples info on there gear changes and how they liked them?

3.90s are a nice gear, but don't except your car to be leaps and bounds faster than a similar car with 3.73s
If you want a bigger jump on them, get a 9" with some big gears and a pair of M/T ET Radials. They'll probably be launching softly/spinning, while you can launch/hook hard as hell and not worry about breaking that 10 bolt

Thanks for the info guys. So my next question is there a preference in brands like motive, or richmond, summit, ratech? So im pretty positive that im gonna go with the 4.10's. Iam looking at hooker headers for my ride too.

Richmonds tend to whine a bit. I haven't heard much from Summit gears, but the one review I've heard they did well. Motives are a good brand, they don't seem to whine as bad as Richmonds in my experience. The best bet usually is to get some OEM gears
