I was wondering the 4 main cap bolts that go in from the bottom are they reusable? I know the side ones need to be replaced so they dont leak but I was wondering about the four big boys? Also any sources on a full LS2 overhual gasket kit? Thanks guys

their reusable, but your talking maybe $80 for a set of arp? Why not replace them while you have it apart and know you have good stuff.

Does ARP even make main bolts for LS1's? All I've ever seen is studs, and those are almost $200. Then don't forget you need to have the mains line honed when changing to different fasteners, so there's another couple hundred bucks. I reused my main bolts, they're not TTY like head bolts are.

im puttin studs in mine, just pullin the old stuff out and puttin studs back in, not even gonna pop the main caps off. I dont see the need to get it line honed.

I've had 3 engines built (bolts) that I replaced the main bolts with studs and never had any problem with it. Some will say that an engine needs a line-hone at minumum, but I've not seen the need...

Because of the higher torque value used. It absoutely is a good idea to have this done. Most engine builders will chime in and tell you this also. The higher torque can throw your main bores out of round.

^^Yup. Any time you change fasteners, you change the clamping force on the cap which can/will distort the main bore. Doesn't matter if it's bolts or studs. Line honing the block trues the mains back up. Think about it---better fasteners = better clamping force......nobody would ever upgrade if ARP's didn't hold the caps any better than stock bolts.
