My 2000 WS6's left taillamp has a lot of moisture inside it, to the point where the bulbs are half as bright as the other side. A new taillamp my cost is about $180.00

My left tail light did the same thing. I got it replaced under warranty.... Ive noticed alot of TA's with the same problem. If your still under warranty they will replace it. I believe the reason for this is the jaring of them when u slam the hatchback to close it. Now I close mine real slowly..
Wonder if there is something out there that u can install on it to automaticly shut it once it touches the latch, like the Grandma cars have..

I had the same issue with my left taillight and all four of my headlights (you could actually see 1/2inch or more water in the headlights). I had them replaced under warranty, each at a different time since they didn't happen at once. One of the headlights has been replaced twice due to the same issue. If your car is still under warranty. That is your best bet.
About closing the hatch... I replaced the spring with a much stronger one, since the old one was too weak to work all the time (especially in the winter with snow). I can't close mine softly.
