Default Questions on 402 build

I have an 06 A4 GTO. Have a VRX3 cam 226/228 585/588 114. Love the street manners. Good power, doesn't buck, smooth idle etc.

I want to keep the same street manners with a 402. I have a couple questions....

Best place to get a 402 for price vs quality?
Best cam in an A4 with 402 that will be considered "mild?"
What size injectors for 402?
How much is my stock block with a broken piston worth?

I will not do FI or N20. Strictly NA. I want the motor build tight so I don't have any oil consumption.

Current mods:

Kooks 13/4
Magnaflow catback
Performabulit level 2
2800 stall
Ported FAST92/Ported TB
3.91 gears
VRX3
Trickflow as cast 220

HKE. Scroggin. Mast Motorsports. and about a dozen others @ this site as well can hook you up.
The current cam you have will be nice and mild in your 402, and if you step up some, say in teh low 230 @ .050 range @.600 on a 114 will be pretty tame.
Is the block out of your GTO? Anything wrong with the BLOCK?

So far the block looks ok as far as I can tell. I have the heads and lifters pulled out. The cylinder walls look ok thus far.

How hard is it to build a 402 from a rotating assembly? Some of the stuff I read from these engine builders is scary.

You are in Texas, have you considered LG Motorsports ?? Look at my sig, they did a great job 511 rwhp 500 rwtq and I still have to swap TB's out. The ls2 stocker just can't flow the amount of air that Rev's 95mm Billet can. Hoping for a few more ponies after the swap. They are located about 20 mins from Dallas in Wiley , TX on Highway 78 south. Phone number is in my sig, ask for Anthony.

Yeah I heard your car startup when it was at LG. I'm looking into all options. Still waiting on a quote from them. Who at LG actually did the work on your car?

Louis, Mikey, and Sean I think. Mikey did the build, I think Sean helped with the install, and Louis did the tuning.

Price vs quality is going to be subjective and VERY opinionated; therefor you'll have to make the call in the end.

Plus there's the case of your being automatic with your request of smooth driveability. My car probably drives smoother than 99% of other strokers with comparably sized cams/heads but I have a manual.

You're in Texas; LOTS of options

My Wife has the same tranny as yours with 3:42's in Her WS6. We're dropping a TSP 402 in Her car this spring.

why not use that aluminum 6.0l block that you have, and buy a stroker kit and build it up.

Cause I hear that costs just as much and I'd have to trust someone locally to do all the machine work correctly.

Default Cam for 402

I have a 231/237 115LSA in my 402. It's a M6 but would be o-k with an A4.

I have a sound clip I could send you if your interested. Good street manners.

It made 482 RWHP through a 90mm ported FAST, 6 liter ported heads, 1 3/4 Dynamax headers W / cats / Flowmaster Muffler ( it was kinda open inside )
And that tuner did not know WTF he was doing !

BTW, I'd buy a complete engine from a sponsor. Like you said, if you try and round up all the parts, do some yourself and then the local shop. You'll prolly have more money in it. That's what happened to me on the 402 !

If you get one from a sponsor, ie Scoggin Dickey, you'll get some kind of a warranty ?
