Default New GM engine, change rod bolts or not change rod bolts?

I accidently posted this question in the Gen III external engine forum but it should be here. I have a new(not rebuilt)GM LS1 that I will be installing soon. I was thinking about changing the rod bolts over to the KATECH bolts so I did a search and there really is no definative answer on this. Some say "no problem" some say its a gamble. I understand that there is a potential for problems on a used motor where the cap could be distorted from use but is there any issue on a brand new engine that has never been run? Thanks for the help.

Do it. The Katecks are a dirrect replacement. No resizing needed. Just remove the factory bolt and ferral, reinstall the Kateck and Tq to spec.

Shouldn't be any issues to worry about on a new engine simply because it hasn't been broken in and nothing has seated. If you have plans on running the engine hard I would go ahead and do it just for cheap insurance and to save yourself from having to do it later while it's in the car just from having second thoughts. I would do it. I'm sure other's will agree.

I think it really depends on what your plans are for this motor. If you don't plan on doing a cam or anything extreme, why change them. I would only change them if i knew i would spin the motor past 6200, and do it often.

How hard are you going to turn the motor?

I do plan to run it hard. I am doing a cam swap before I install it and it will see some nitrous also.
