Default SES Light > No Autotap > Can Autozone check the code ?

Well, my heads, headers, cam car that was LS1Edit tuned by Thunder racing has finally set the SES light.

The car now has about 8,000 miles since I put the parts on and had it tuned with LS1Edit.

The rear O2 sensors, AIR system and EGR codes were all removed from the PCM. The MAF sensor is stock.

Wonder what has now set the SES light? Anyway, instead of paying big bucks to the dealership to run the code with the Tech II, I was wondering if Autozone can read the code with there code reader?

Thanks,
Ron

They can no problem, or anyone w/a generic OBD-II scanner.

Yep. They'll do it for free too.

Thanks for the info ....

Since the way AZ scans them in generic OBDII mode,it does not always give a specific defintion to the code,if you need it, PM me and I will print up all the info you need from AllData on the code that set off your MIL.

ss rally red ...

Thanks for offering.

Here is what happened. When doing the cam, headers, heads, and LS6 intake, I removed the complete AIR system (to include the air pump). That left all the wiring harnesses dangling that attach to the air pump assy. Of course, thats why I had the AIR code removed from the PCM along with the rear O2 sensor and EGR codes 9 months ago.

After the SES light came on and stayed on for the last 3 days, I took the advice of the folks here and was going to drive down to Autozone this morning to have them run the code ..... But, I started thinking. Those AIR pump wire harnesses were just dangling around after I removed the pump 9 months ago.

So .... I thought, hey, I never removed the fuse for the air pump. Maybe the wires are touching something and keying the SES light. Worth a shot, so I removed the fuse prior to starting it this morning. And what do you know .... The light never cam back on after it was started. Now, only time will tell whether or not it comes back or not.

I drove the car at least 25 miles today, a WOT run, 3 engine starts, and some highway driving. So far .. So good.

Ron,

P.S looks like we now have 2 threads about the same thing ... Oh well

P.S I really am not worried too much about the O2 sensors. The 2 front ones have 40,000 miles on them, were installed properly with wire extensions, and are in no way touching any part the the headers. No leaded race gas has been used in the car.

BTW, Are you very familiar with ATap? If so, I sure would like to e-mail you a chart I made up after borrowing someones Atap about 4 months ago.

Just to see what you think.

My e-mail is: turbota@kornet.net

I wish I could help with the Atap, I assume it is simular to a Snap On scanner with a data stream? I don't feel qualified to offer a lot of useful info on the data you have, but am taking workshops provided by my employer to understand this in depth.
