I just failed NY inspection; car is H/C with all bolt-ons but no tuning. Apparently, the car is close to passing but did not achieve the required hydro carbon test.

The LTRIMS are high as indicated on AutoTAp.

Question: If I tune my car with LS1Edit, will this solve my problem?

Yes. That should take care of it nicely. Even a better idea is to have it dyno tuned, with a less aggressive file for emmissions, and a seperate file set for kill.
I am new to LS1Edit, and in Nebraska thier is no emmission law. So I am hardly an expert.

You might help a little by getting your Ltrims neg. I don't think so though. I think you can get through by turning up the idle to get better burning of the extra fuel from the cam. If they check missfire in NY, set the low and idle tests to 32000.

Lean misfire makes hydrocarbons. So does pig rich.
So does dirty oil (loaded with blowby products).
High NOx is indicating lean, high CO is indicating
rich. Closed loop "should" fix the mixture right
but that's only true if all cylinders are balanced
and firing smartly. Injector imbalance will give
you an emissions problem even with a dead-on
average. Header cars often have their O2s kind
of cool contributing to a slow loop time constant
and more "wandering" about the centerpoint instead
of staying tight with it. This also means more
excursion into naughty emissions territory. So
pull up with everything hot, oil freshly changed,
and get on the sniffer before the O2s get sleepy
again.

I would try running a different fuel, someone told me if you run a mix of Alchol and and 93 you should pass with flying colors.

I tried mixing a four cans of alcohal (injector cleaner) in a 3/4 tank of premium....

My HC's are 73 and the State limit is 60....

Also, I have a bad passenger side rear O2 simulatror that is throwing a code....


Would the bad rear Sim cause the car to run pig rich?

Rear sims don't do anything but keep the SES light off. Won't change anything as far as fuel delivery.

I raised the idle with the screw adjustment and a slightly larger TB hole...it idles faster than stock...In addition, I just changed the oil and used a shitload of alcohal in the gas...

These measures did not work, however...

I'm gona try LS1-Edit and see if I can get the LTrims down...

If this does not work, I'll pull the cam and install the stock one....


I'm surprised at the failure becasue my cam is small 220/220, 564, 564, 112 LSA...My heads are 11.4 CR so this does not help....

The gas station dude told me Weschester County New York just raised their emissions requirements....

...I thought you could only inforce a higher standard on new cars not on existing cars....

Consequently, this blows...
