yes.

only 1995 and prior cars are exempt in illinois

It'd be nice if indiana would pass the same legislation.

Not always true - if any of your readiness monitors fail to complete their checks you could fail (i.e. having 02 codes tuned out).

Illinois doesn't sniff cars anymore on a regular basis. Hell the whole reason they stopped testing cars on a dyno (which was mainly for for NOx) is because they were popping engines left and right since most 96 and under cars nowadays have rather a **** ton of miles, aren't taken care of, or both.

Now - I hope no one gets the wrong idea - if you remove the cats on a street car that had OE cats (so post 1975 I think it was) you are committing a federal crime. Federal. Even if the state doesn't test for it if somehow you had an enemy that ratted you out to the EPA you are F-U-C-K-E-D

(doesn't stop me though )

so my 95 wont need to get emissions tested? thats amazing- haa still a street car!

oh and btw i have a 97 cherokee and had to go take emissions the other day in it, well needless to say it doesnt have cats - its straight pipe'd w/ a bullet muffler, and always has the CEL on, so i rested the engine light by un hook'n and rehook'n the battery back up, drove to emissions and passed!
