Default Problem with anti thief ignition system

Bout a week ago was drivin g down the Interstate and I shifted to to forth immediatly the car shifted out of fourth died and I could not steer lucky I got off on the shoulder. The car would not start and the security light was on while trying to start it. Today I was at a shop getting somtuing looked at and the car wouldn't start while on the lift. It would not start at all, we tried everything. We Finaly disconnected the battery for a bit and it starded up. Called up a buddy and he said to get a Vats bypass system. Btw I have an alipne alarm system hooked up too, maybe they are coflicting? Or is the Vats computer going out?

Default

there is no "vats" computer, although i think your BCM may be tied into it

the vats bypass is when you install a resistor into the wires that read the resistance of the chip in your key

there is a set of VERY small wires n your ignition that love to break, do a search for vats bypass and you will see hundreds of threads about this
