Default GXP Brakes shot at 16,000 miles

So today I checked out my brakes on my GXP because I noticed the pedal felt different and had a slight vibration. I cannot believe how bad my front brake are! I never beat on my brakes. The pads are literally gone. I would need a micrometer to measure the amount of actual pad left. The rotors are chewed up bad too. No possible way those can be turned. I have had my car one year, this month and it only has 16,000 miles.

I just ordered new rotors and ceramic pads for the car. I will take pics and post them next week when the parts come in.

And now my question to you is, has anyone else had this issue?

Everybody has the same problem, the stock pads get chewed up fast. You'll enjoy the ceramics, they perform the same, last ALOT longer and you won't have hardly any brake dust.

Yeah, get the ceramics. I switched to the ceramic brake pads at about 5000 miles. I changed my front pads about a month ago with a fresh set. I could have waited because the old pads still had about half the material left on them but I had already ordered a new set. At that time, my car had 96,000 miles on it and is 3 years old. I would estimate that the ceramic pads could last 4 or 5 years before needing to be replaced. Also, a little advice. Get your rotors turned down if you get the ceramic pads. Otherwise, they will squeal a lot and be very annoying.

Also upgrade your brake lines to Stainless Steel ones. The difference is HUGE

Part numbers for the ceramics:

Front: 19108021
Rear: 19108022

As for brake lines, I am thinking of getting the ones from ZZPerformance.

I replaced my stock pads at like 8000 miles and they were completly gone at that point. I just replaced my hawk pads at 16000 miles. And also at 16000 miles my rotors were heat cracked so i replaced them with r1 rotors and ebc yellow stuff pads.

I thought about that. My issue is that the dealer will put the same P.O.S. rotors on that the car already has. I bit the bullet and just bought aftermarket ones. They should be here by Friday at the latest. The wait is killing me!

I have 27k on my 08 Impala SS, plenty of pads but heat spots everywhere. Horrible shimmey when braking at high speeds.

the Impy felt like it needed brakes at about 61K, rotors were trashed, but the pads were still decent. Replaced them all with stock. I can live with doing that every 60K miles or so. Seems like it is only the GXP's that are having brake troubles.
