T-top Rattles, Anyone?
My T-tops have rattled off and on since I bought the car several years ago. I took the car to the dealership a couple of times when it was under warranty but they never fixed the problem. A lot of folks just say deal with it, nothing can be done but that rattling right by one's head can get quite annoying! Athough subframe connectors may have helped a little, I recently tried something different with them that I should have done years ago and they have been silent so far.
Step one: Take off t-top
Step two: Take out two phillips head screws that hold on each of the plastic covers on the car on either end of the t-top
Step 3: After removing the rear plastic cover and pulling down the front plastic cover you will see two metal tabs on either end that the metal rod from the t-top slides into. Carefully pull down these metal tabs about 1/8 inch or so to make the t-top fit tighter. I also tightened up the two screws on the bottom of the tabs that hold the tabs in place.
Step 4: Test fit the t-top. It should fit more snug and be more solid, because it fits more snug, when replacing a t-top you probably need to gently push down on the t-top with one hand while flipping the handle closed with the other.
Yeah, it's pretty simple but I just wanted to share because it has worked so far (about a week and a half of driving and not the first rattle when it normally did it every trip) and also I have been to a car wash and did NOT have any drips inside the car like normal from t-top leaks.
I know the t-top rattles (and leaks) are very common to these cars and I have not seen anything on a fix besides using silicone or stuffing in a piece of cloth so I hope this helps out and is a permanant fix!

It's fairly simple but I added some pics for clarification.

I've put several hundred miles on the car and went to a carwash again and I have to say the t-tops did leak some this time with the high water pressure. But still no rattles though!

Awesome right up, I have sfc and they helped a little, but they still rattled, Im gonna give this a try. Another thing I found that rattles is the unit that holds the seat belt behind my head.

My M6 car is plagued with this issue, and I have tried this technique with no success. The best luck I've had is by spraying lubricant into the holes for the t-top prongs, but that only lasts for a while and then the creaking comes back. Bolt-on SFC's were no help either.
Funny thing, this is the only f-body in our family that has had this problem (out of five t-top cars).
