i think i can paint the inside of the door up where the hinges are without taking the door off, so i'm gonna try that.
but i think i'd have to take my trunk lid off to paint underneith it, plus i'd have to paint in the grooves.
i have these cars to paint:
93 z28
87 mustang gt hatchback.. gonna take the trunk lid off to paint undernieth
97 mustang gt hardtop. gonna take the trunk lid off to paint undernieth
98 firebird hardtop... same
also, do i paint the interior part of the door first or the outside of the door first? do ppl paint the inside of the gas lid?
anything i shouldnt forget to tape off? windows, fender wells, interior, remove headlights/taillights. wiper cowl

when my bumpers were repainted they removed them from the car. they tried to remove the ground effects but forgot 2 of the bolts on the inner fender.

mirrior door handles locks belt mouldings anything where dirt can hide. when i mask cars i mask the wheel whels off so nothing can blow out. if you have a bigg enough place you can take all the panels off than un bolt fendders hood doors deck lid bumpers and paint the body seamless thats how we do show cars

do edge in parts we do the inside first, but for show cars, parts stay off and get painted complete off the car
even in collosion work parts are edged in first then installed, everything removed, trim panles, mirrors, handles, belt moldings, body side moldings, lock clyinder, anything that can be taken off is

My car is in the shop as we speak.. They took off my hood (painted both sides of the hood), my rear hatch (painted both sides of my rear hatch), my mirrors, my front bumper cover (converted over from a firebird to a T/A bumper), my rear bumper cover (converted over from a firebird to a T/A bumper) and my side skirts (factory T/A ground effects). Additionally, my rear tail light assembly was removed and I believe my front headlight assembly is going to be removed as well. I will ask him if he intends to paint the inside of the gas door. Also, my car has T Tops, so he obviously removed those as well. My interior door panels are off but I'll ask him if he is painting my door jamb area as well.
My car has the factory dark green paint scheme. I am keeping it the same color with this new paint job. So, I'm not too concerned with painting the inside of the firewall, door jambs, etc..
*** A nice piece of info by my paint and body guy - he told me the most of the mount points for my hood, hatch and interior hood release lever were rusted. He removed those parts and said he could sand blast and paint them but the paint would wear down and eventually re-rust. So, I am taking those pieces over to my local powdercoater (he is here on LS1TECH.COM under the name of: joeformula). I will have him powder coat those parts. That should definitely do the trick! ***
