General LSX Automobile Discussion - 04 sliverado 2500 hd temp gauge

my temp gauge reads that the car is overheating. efi live reports that the temperature is fine

also it reads that its overheated as soon as i start it..

i looked at the diagram and it appears that the temp gauge is run off serial data. does this mean i need a new cluster?

it seems it may be a stepper motor.
