Default Painting the underside of my hood.

Ok, I know this might be a newb question, but I need some help. I took off the padding on the underside of my hood on my 98 TA, and there's about a two foot square section where it needs painted. My car is Black, and I was wondering if I needed just a flat black paint, and will I need to have my paint code for the paint? I know nothing about car paint, so any help will be greatly appreciated.

it really depends on what you want it to look like. if you want a gloss finish that will match the exterior, or if you want something less susceptible to the elements (flat black).

Well the majority of the underside does not have a gloss finish, so I was just going to try to match what's already there. So I guess I'll go with the flat black then. Thanks.

Speaking of which, do you plan to replace your padding? If so, where is a good place to buy one fairly cheap?

No, I wasn't going to replace the padding, and when it comes to finding one, I have no clue, my only guess for a cheap one would be at a junk yard, but again I'm not sure.
