I'm in the middle of a lifter swap and I just need one damn nut to go and I stripped the hell out of it. Drivers side, middle nut by the headers 12pt. 13mm. Any suggestions on how to remove it??????????????

I bought three different bolt/nut removers and none of them work I'm desperate here people. I've even put a smaller socket 12mm, 1/2" NOTHING WORKS. Some one please help..........................

It would be easy to get to... if a good pair of vice grips can't hang on, I'd be pulling out a sharp chisel and running straight down the stud without nicking it too much hopefully.

got a welder? weld another larger nut on top of it if possible. the heat from welding may also help free it up....

sounds like at this point it may be your only option? unless you can break the nut apart? but you may damage something else in the process...

Can you put an allen wrench in the end of the stud and remove it? Be a lot easier to work on at the bench rather than in the car.

Yeah, I can put the allen wrench on the end, but tell me how to put a breaker bar on an allen wrench???????????LOL!!!!!!!!

Might be able to use a Hi-lok removal wrench. They come in different sizes. Things grab great, Hi-lok collars are round and have no flats. Hold some serious torque as well.

even if you round out the allen portion, you can always lock 2 nuts together to run it back in.

another option would be to get a stocket that will not fit and beat it on with a hammer.
you might have to waste an extension as well, but those are replacable.

Use a 1/2" 12 point and drive it on with a small hammer, its a tad smaller than the 13mm, Its worked for me

The stud just twisted the allen wrench. I've already stripped one 1/2" socket. Back to the drawing board. As far as the locking of two nuts. How does that work???? Do I just put another 13mm nut on top of the other and torque it down and hope it breaks the stud loose when I try to remove it or do I weld the two together?????????

weld it and be done if you can. to double nut it you would have to be able to tighten the bottom nut against the top to get the stud out. obviously with that stripped its not an option.

2 things you can do.,

Heat it with a torch and drive an IMPACT socket on it, they have a tighter fit and wont flex like a regular socket. might work but probably not...

Or the fastest and easiest option weld a larger nut on top of the other one. this is what i would do..

make sure you buy a new stud when your done. dont try to reuse it even if it looks ok or you will probably have this problem again in the future.

if you can fit a cut off wheel in there without hitting the headers etc you can cut lengthwise thru the nut, paralell and 1/16 of an inch into to the stud so you cut all the threads... it will come right off... try heat first.... and i dont think a nut splitter will fit
