Gear swap 410's stock 10bolt
So i attempted putting in my gears today?Iwas waiting on my friend to come over with the tools to check the pinion depth and backlash cause i was scared to **** **** up!Si want it preloaded at an in between .006-.009?? That was the suggested preload?? Right? Anyone else have problems with theres. Mine is just a stock 10 blot with Richmond 410's going in.So iam home on a friday night which is probly best anyways. Man i cant wait to hit the streets tomorrow and put the miles on the break in and than tear **** up at night!!!

As long as the backlash and contact pattern are good, it should be fine.
As far as preload, how did you check it?
Did you use a dial type inch pound torque wrench to measure the force to turn the pinion?
It's weird for some people because on final assembly it takes about 300 foot pounds to tighten the pinion nut, and typically 10 to 25 INCH pounds to turn it.
Now I just realized you refered to preload as .006 to .009, thats backlash. I'd personally go more to the tight side if you can like .006 to .008.

O i got the backlash mixed??I havent checked the pinion depth or back lash i just had got everything ready. I put the bearings on changed the ring gear and stopped.Cause i got cold feet and didnt want to mess anything up so i didnt do the checking or shimming yet at all. Because i really dont have the money if i mess up and the rearend breaks im screwed for a long *** time.
