it was an 01, sry to get your hopes up to those who thought it was gonna be a termi. i was hanging out with my honda buddy when he got a call about a guy wanting to race him. well we show up and they guy already chickened out by the time we got there. while we wer waiting around, this 01 cobra, newer riced out accord, and a 350z pull up. no one knew who they wer but the cobra revved at me when he went by. we drove over to ask if he wanted to run. he said no because he just bought the car. but he still asked me to pop the hood. idk why, he didnt exactly look like he knew what he was looking at. he popped his hood and immediately pointed to the SVT badge on the pass. valve cover and said "5.4 baby" i just said "uh, ok lets run." i beat him by so many car lengths i couldnt count them all. normally i wouldnt be that proud of beating an 01 cobra but i just love beating cars people just bought. especially when they think their car is the shit. i told they guy it might be a better idea to sell the car and buy an LS1 to which he promptly said "LS1s suck." i told him he just got beat by a lesser motor and dared him to find a 6 speed LS1 that will actually lose to his car. they looked like they wer in high school so im guessing he didnt exactly pay for it himself.

Those are always the best kills:D, I had a guy tell me my car sucked after i repeatedly beat him from a dig and multiple rolls.

no track times yet. its untunned and keeps breaking 10 bolts. it sounds great at idle but anything above it sound completely stock.

I know anything can happen on the street. But how is it that a stock LT1 with 275-285 horsepower {depending what year} beat a stock 01 Cobra with 320 horsepower. LT1's weigh basically the same as those year Mustangs. Yes, I know there's the driver mod. But I'm talking about car against car.

Dig up some dyno numbers on stock 6-speed LT1s and '99/01 Cobras. You'll find comparable horsepower, but with the LT1 making more torque. Such Mustangs typically dyno about the same power and torque. For what it's worth, F-bodies usually make every bit the power the Corvettes do, but play victim to GM's ratings game. They're 300 horsepower cars.

Also, the Cobra that had 270.xx hp./ 290 tq. ran a 13.5 @ 105 in the quarter. The best I've ever heard of a LT1 is 13.9x. I had a 97' Z28, the best I had was 14.1. That was with a CAI. A LT1 doesn't look like it stacks up to a01' Cobra to me. And no, I'm not a Ford fanboy. I have a 2002 Camaro SS.

A stock '01 Cobra "should" beat an LT1, but stuff does happen. Personally I think anyone that drives an N/A 4v Cobra that doesn't have ATLEAST 4.10s is asking to lose. Those cars need a good gear.

well i already knew i was gonna win i was just messin around with the kid. but for him to turn around and tell me LS1s suck after he just got beat by an LT1 before i even told him it had a cam is just plain ridiculous. ill even add to it by saying he had a total of 4 people in the car. we met him in a parking lot where he had the option to off load them for a while because we wer commin back there. i told him it probably wasnt a good idea to have that many people in the car, but he just told me "im not worried about it" so its his own stupidity, not by chance that he had a full car the story really shouldnt be about the race and more about how stupid these high school kids are.

no they dont share the same engine. similar but different. the mach 1 has a better motor than the 99-01 cobras.

A 6spd car, sure. But don't leave out all the 2.73-geared A4s and the high-optioned 3.23-geared cars. They're gonna run mid 13s all day long. Like I've been saying for years, there are too many variations of F-bodies to group them all together. And for the record, the only Mach 1s that a stock or mild bolt-on LT1 should be coming close to beating is an automatic Mach 1. They're only a touch quicker than a 5spd 99-04 GT.

They may look similar on the outside, but on the inside the Mach 1 motor has tweaks the n/a Cobra's WISH they had. They have much better heads, which they share with the 03/04 Cobra, and the intake cams are from the 5.4L Lincoln Navigator motor, which gives the Mach 1 considerably more low end torque than the previous generation n/a Cobra.

Take the best Fbody from 2001 and pit it against the best Cobra from 2001. Which has obviously put out better times, consistently. Its not an argument, its a fact. Please don't be ingorant.

99-01 Cobra's on average put down 265-280rwhp in stock form. Around 30rwhp less than a RamAir or SuperSport.

And it's still a driver's race with the edge going to the F-body. Cobras are only a hair slower than Mach 1s. Given equal drivers the F-body should win, but if the F-body driver isn't on his game and the Cobra driver is, it can turn the tables quickly.

Once again, I am not talking about drivers, I'm talking about cars. A stock 2001 RamAir or SS will win at the track every time, and it will pull higher trap speed so it should walk on the street also against a stock 2001 Cobra.

if you can look past the drop in k&n filter, my bone stock time was 13.7 w/ a 2.0 60.

PNY's car was bolt-ons and a small cam and ran a 13.0. Mach 1's are clearly the faster cars stock. So all the people with stock or near stock LT1s that say they beat Mach 1s all the time have their heads up their asses, or are running A4 Machs.

The other was an A4, the third didn't mention tranny. The rest weren't stock.

My only point is......I agree with whomever stated (I think it was Iruns) you must have raced an A4 mach or a very shitty driver. Machs are LS territory, which are still enough to beat a bolt on only LT1.

Actually Carl 13.4 bone factory stock is the quickest I've ever heard of for an A4 Mach. they are typically a mid upper 13 car. You just know how to stab yo foot mang.

The same day my car ran a 13.3, it also beat an 04 Cobra. But that was PURELY DRIVER. The guy couldnt drive the Cobra, if he had been able to i must admit the camaro would have seen taillights. I think the Mach 1's are fast cars and stock for stock would beat a LT1 Car, and be a good run with a LS1, but agian I think it would be a drivers race, not necessarily which car is the fastest. Also the guy that used to own my car had a 100 shot on it and ran a LS1 Trans Am with a STS Turbo kit, TA jumped out half car and thats where it stayed. A lot has to do with the driver in my opinion.

yea well i got a video of a moped beating an LS1 t/a on a 125 shot. doesnt mean it happens consistently

I'd love to run into a good driver in one, but I guess that none of the numerous ones I have run into had good drivers. And no, if I lose a race, I shake the other driver's hand and hit up the classified section to make my car faster. Somebody is always faster than you are.

The problem is you are not a Ford guy, and your knowledge of stock Mach 1's is limited. I'll gladly post my slips since I got the car. You need to drive a 150 miles south to PBIR and I'll show you a few and I doubt the DA is any different down here. I bought my Mach used in Texas with 62000 miles. A week later I ran it bone stock in 90 degree weather and had a best of 13.7. Bought it back on a 60 degree night and got a 13.4 something. Oh I did forget it had a drop in K&N. I have seen several M5 Machs run 13's bone stock.

You also may want to check out this video. This 17 year old kid with a 2004 Mach 1 went to Atco Dragway and ripped off a bunch of low 13 second runs and a 12.9 run! His Mach 1 wasn't totally stock, but I don't think it had much more than a catback exhaust and a K&N CAI.

I'll grant you it was a cold day in February, but the kid laid the smack down on some cars (and a truck) that should have beat him.
