Default Electric Cutout Help

I was looking into puchasing a Dmh electric cutout for my 2000 TransAm. I have two questions, I have a 3 inch y pipe, so I would need a 3 inch cutout? And how big of a section of pipe needs cut out in order for the cutout to fit?
Thank you.

To figure out how much pipe to cut out hold the cutout pipe up to where you want it. Mark it. Then cut.

Like 1999FirehawkLS1 said right under the passenger side rear seat theres a spot to tuck the cutout. Thats where I have mine.
