Anyone see the new wing regulations?!

Ferrari (http://www.f1grandprix.it/css/viewer.asp?dir=download/wallpaper/2009/FERRARI_F60/1024x768/&file=7.jpg)

Mclaren (http://www.f1grandprix.it/css/viewer.asp?dir=download/wallpaper/2009/MCLAREN_MP4-24/1024x768/&file=mclaren3.jpg)

Renault (http://www.f1grandprix.it/css/viewer.asp?dir=download/wallpaper/2009/RENAULT_R29/1024x768/&file=1.jpg)

and on and on....

At least they got rid of all the stuff sticking off the sides.

Every Honda here in Florida will have them soon too, I just know it :eyes:

When have recent F1 cars looked good? You have to go back to the early to mid 80s for the last good looking F1 cars.

And yup, every Honda owner in Florida will have one soon, because they are all ricers....:eyes:

I like the Mclaren the best just because of the wing on the nose. I know its probably not called a wing but whatever. Yall get what I mean.

at least they went back to full slick tires. but to do that, they had to take away downforce....hence the smaller rear wing. it does look really weird with it being so chopped off though.

I guess this is a vid where Vettel hits most of the rule changes

The only one I disagree on is the 8 engines for a season rule. I think that shit be shenanigans.

What are you gonna do, rules really dictate how the cars look. They don't look so bad. But as mentioned above, the sound those V8's make is insane. F1 cars are just marvels of engineering.

They look amazing, these new cars are like the 90"s cars, smaller wing, lower nose and.......SLICKS!!!!!!

I am all geeked up and can't wait..less than a month to go!!!!

The Ferrari nose is awesome with the little vent hole, looks like the old race cars.....

I just think the pinnacle of automotive engineering and racing should have the best advantages.

High downforce, high speeds, and lots of power. I can deal with the loss of power, due to keeping things safe. But I don't understand the smaller wings.

Lame. They still look baller though.

I like the regenerative braking boost idea. Are there electric motors on the things? I don't get the boost.

I would also like them to allow CV transmissions.

Regenerative Braking(Kinetic Energy Recovery System) - stores kinetic energy generated during braking in a high-RPM flywheel. Then, it feeds back the stored energy to the cars transmission as a burst of speed.

I think that the new rule changes will allow for more exciting racing. I know F1 isnt much passing and so on but it needed to be changed and evolved to get newer fans to start watching. The past 3-4 years have been pretty boring to me but Ive still watched. I know that quite a few guys have stopped because of it.

this might be a dumb question, but whats the diff between indy and f1HUGE!!!!

Aside from having the wheels outside the body of the cars there are millions of differences.

One of the biggest is the engines. The F1 engines are all made by the actual team of the car much like in NASCAR. In Indy they are all made to spec by Honda (at least I still think its them). Another big thing are the actual car models. F1 you can do what ever to the model but you have to stay within the regulations. Indy you have a set body with no variation in them at all.

Basically hit on the few big ones.

not to mention indy is run on oval tracks only, and F1 is all road course. CART is, in the short version, indy car on road courses.

FYI Indy races on 8 road courses (a mix of road, street and airport tracks) and 10 oval courses.

didn't they change the wings to REDUCE AERODYNAMIC DOWNFORCE? that would make it LESS FUNCTIONAL.

i like that they brought back slicks, though...

it's not about looks, but how fast you can take the pole.

thats why they reduced the wings.....because they brought back slicks. it was a trade off.

Maybe they made the wings smaller cause they had to much traction with slicks for the drivetrain to handle.

The new wing is skinnier and taller. It will create more traction in a corner and less traction/drag in the straights.

Oh ic. Thanks.

See I thought I always saw cars with slicks on the road courses and then the video said they are just now getting slicks. So I must have been watching indy.

Fun Fact: My cousin builds engines or does something with Indy cars. I think he used to work for Unser Jr. I'd ask him, but I never see the guy.

The road courses are beautiful especially during the GP of brazil the track goes right next to the ocean were people in yachts/boats can watch them, I bet if a car ever crashed hard enough it could end up in the ocean, then there is a stretch were the cars go through a tunnel that runs through a giant mountain, truly EPIC

I was wondering why the Ferrari had slicks on it haha. Slicks and the older wings would be sick but dangerous.

Monaco is a killer track but not one that you want to go watch due to the very limited visabiliy but its my favorite race to watch.

CART used to be fun to watch. They were usually competitive and had multiple drivers competing for the title but I don't watch any of it anymore. You can watch a race for 15 minutes and not see a pass. Back on topic though, the new F1 cars look pretty good.
