another question about degreeing cam
When the shop degreed my custom ground cam they said it was ground 3 degrees off of what it was supposed to be so they had to retard it 3 degrees to get it on a 109 intake center line. Is this what you are doing when you degree a cam? Are you just makeing sure the cam is installed on the correct intake center line? Here is my cam card if it helps any? I know you degree the cam to make sure it is ground correctly but I am wondering what you actually adjust if the cam is not ground right. I am also wondering when they originally installed the cam they did it dot to dot and it made more hp and torque but it felt like it was kind of a dog on the lower end. If they retarded it 3 degrees will it have more lower end power or less?
Here is my cam card if it helps any to answer my question

From what the shop said when it was dot to dot it was at 112 intake center instead of 109 so they retarded it 3 degrees to get it t o109 like the cam card calls for. So what they said is the cam was off by 3 degrees when it was ground.

112 ICL to 109 ICL is advancing it 3 degrees not retarding it. That should make power earlier or sooner in rpm or slightly pump up the low end some. It may make the same or even more up top too depending on what the combo wanted.

With this cam and a fast 92/92 combo and a set of PRC stage 2.5 5.3 heads and basic bolt ons including pacesetter headers, TSP catted y pipe, 25% under drive pulley, 85 mm TSP lid and 85mm ZO6 mass air my car put down 434 rwhp and 397 rwtq. That was thru a LM1 cat back with out the help of a cut out. It was also with the catalytic converters. My car is also an a4 with a 3800 circle D converter. If the car were a 6 speed it would have made at least 470+ rwhp.

I hoped for your numbers with my "first cousin" Cam. Mine was not degreed though plus you have a bigger lid and TB. I just got an exhauast banging issue worked out that MAY have been pulling KR too and costing me a little We'll see soon It won't get me 434 though
Congrats on a nice combo I know you are happy
Post up or pm me some times when you get them. I would be curious how close we are?????? or not.....
Anyway good job on your motor it sounds like a well balanced strip/weekend /DD type car (if needed). IIRC the whole motor is a fresh build right?
ENJOY

I'm just hoping I don't have to sell the car to buy my house. If not its getting some gears and then it will be nasty. heres a pic of me running a full bolt on and stalled 99SS with a fast 78 intake and 150 shot on a street in mexico. Keep in mind my car still has stock suspension and his car is a full suspension car. Mine still launched way harder. Mines the one on the left with the front end up.
heres a idle clip also.
