cam checked with cam doctor still need to be degreed?

Default cam checked with cam doctor still need to be degreed?

I got a custom grind cam and it was checked with a cam doctor.... my question is do i still have to degree the cam or can i just line it up dot-to-dot?

You can do both. IMO I would degree it in just to ensure it is correct.

you degree the cam, so that you can line it up properly. or else what was the point to degree it in the first place?

if its doctored and u have a non-adjustable chain set, u cant degree it only check it which u have already done, so unless u fit aftermarket adjustable sprockets there isnt much point as u can't degree it anyway.

unless you pull the pin and degree it.... i wouldnt get into that though

just because the cam is ground correct, doesent mean that the keyway for the crank was cut correctly.

I assumed since it was ground corectly i could just line it up dot-to-dot....

looks like ill be degreeing it!

Agreed, the chain set can still be made wrong too, among other things, that can cause the VE's to happen in different places than where they were intended...even if the camshaft is perfect!

Thats why I run adjustable sprocket. So many people degree there cams but they run stock chain set?. The key way is cnc milled, no issues there..etc but there are other variables that can make the cam out. Simply you can check it and if it has stock sprockets, deal with it if it is a few degrees out otherwise install a adjustable set and do it the right way like I did
