Default Why is GMMG so damn expensive?

Their setup isn't complicated. I've heard of people making their own just using their mufflers. Has anyone done this? Did it turn out? Or should i wait and buy the real thing. $700 more to save up

because it's stainless steel and a real high end brand, also it comes with "prestige"

though I think the gmmg sounds good I don't think it sounds $800 good

people have made mock-gmmg catbacks using powerstick/powerpack mufflers, forgot which one is the crimped "chambered" style

I'd buy used. They just had one sell in the FL section for $550.

It is that price because people will pay it, period. Way over-priced if you ask me. I don't think it sounds particularly awesome either, but to each their own. It's overrated.

Also consider that they probably didn't tool up to make thousands of them. I would imagine that they're pretty much hand made, and decent labor isn't cheap, as well as the cost of stainless tubing, the tools to bend it, etc....

you could probably do something real similiar with some sweet thunder mufflers for cheaper. i've never heard the gmmg exhaust in person and it doesn't seem like too many people have them because of the price. however it seems many people

maybe they do sound super duper fantastically awesome but all i have heard are internet sound clips.

Someone on hear posted sound clips of a mostly stock LT1 T/A (stock manifolds) with the GMMG catback and I thought it sounded terrible. On the other hand, in all the clips I've heard of LT1s and LS1s with ORYs, then the GMMG sounds GREAT. I've heard one car with GMMG in person - a heads/cam LS1 M6 car - and it sounded amazing.

It's definitely not worth $900 though. And forget about planning to buy one used, it's VERY rare that they ever show up in the classifieds.

I love mine and I would say it was alot of money for a catback, BUT I love the sound and Im happy. BTW, I dont think a single video clip of it online does it justice it sounds so much better in person.

for that price, true duals and a nitrous kit...hell true duals alone will give you more HP and sounds better. no catback is worth $800 no matter how good it sounds unless is sounding like angelina jolie moaning my name, then ok...

^ agreed.

I honestly think all of the aftermarket exhausts are outrageously overpriced, but even more so on the crappier side. If a brand new loudmouth sells for approx 450 from SLP why would anyone pay 350 for a flowmaster that isn't even anodized? But people do

Borla= adjustable, and you can mount an electric cutout to it if you want to.
Corsa= ******* beautiful

GMMG=just sounds loud, nothing exceptional, just loud.

Check ebay, craigslist, here, ltxtech, and cz28 + type "gmmg for sale" on google. I found one on here for $550 shipped with less than a thousand miles on it in great condition -minus tips, but that was fine since I wanted Corsa clones from ebay anyway.

Borla has a bad resale value when compared with GMMG or Corsa...probably because they are much more common. I would consider buying GMMG new(if I didn't have one), but no other expensive system. A good, used Borla can be had for a few hundred bucks btw. Magnaflow is a safe way to go and sounds good...it is just common. GMMG is like a trophy girlfriend, people find out you have one and they can't help but feel envious and impressed and whoever said there is nothing special about GMMG...that is just not the case. It has a unique, refined, throaty, and aggressive sound all in one; a feat that few other systems can compete with.
