O yes, its pretty awesome. I guess they figured, "Well if the stupid Americans have the LS3 in theirs, we have to put an LS7 in ours!" haha. They have some cool vehicles over there.

i wish i could order them to pluck a g8 base from the assembly line and mod it for me. I dont see why not. Sure, only 427 are being made but technically, it wouldnt be aholden and wouldnt stray away from it. I love it. When i go to sydney, im hunting one down for sure. Anyone notice the price? $150,000+ so you could buy this or two ZO6's. Maybe thats why they wont come over here lol

While the W427 is a pretty cool car for us. I'd rather a Z06 or even a ZR1 isn't a stretch for the money HSV is asking for them. Only 200 are being built too. But don't be surprised if the LS7 finds its way into another model over here.. Or even better piss it off and use the LS9.

The 427 was only ever going to be a MAX build and they couldn't quite cut it so it fell well short.
Only Grey Import Vettes here. GM has never officially exported them here in RHD or anywhere as far as I know.

I am in love with the Holden line from GM. The Sportwagon SS-V is probably my favorite "daily driver" car but I have to give it to you Aussies... The HSV cars are just plain and simple BADASS!!!! I just wish I could get a Holden over here. Problem I am afraid of is getting it to pass emissions or safety inspections over here. If it would pass then I would have the trouble of paying for the car and shipping. By the time I would pay for a v6 holden and ship it here I might as well buy a Z06 vette.

probably more than that! haha
I am also in love with the Holden cars. The G8s we get here are boring compared the Commodores over there. And since the W427 probably wont happen, the car i wish i could import would be the HSV Clubsport R8. So awesome!

I can't seem to post any pics! Sorry I'm still new to the forum!
There is a few pics on the Pro Auto website (www.proauto.com.au).
Just go into the performance section then click on the drop down menu that's labelled "Performance" and click on "Pro Auto Cars" and its in there under Pro 427.
It was on the dyno at the time and they had the front bumper off because they were checking out the factory OTR for possible mods. It pulled 400 RWHP in stock trim and gained 35 RWHP from a tune alone.

only 400 rwhp? do they tune the LS7 in this car to be slightly less powerful than in the corvette? I'm pretty sure Z06s put down 450ish to the wheels dont they?

They dont measure in Horsepower, over there its i think kilowatts? He may have his conversion wrong. No way for $150,000 you get a g8 gxp powered 427. It may be a little detuned but then again its Australia, no ZO6 to compete with (which is why we always see detuning-to simply make the corvette look better), so it may be in full blown mode lol.
KW divided by 0.7457 = HP
and reverse
HP divided by 1.341 = KW
so
ls7=505 calimed horsepower = 376 KW? Maybe he just meant 400kw instead of HP

It would cost A LOT of money. Not only the shipping, but I assume you would need to get some special permits or something becuase the car will be "Australian tuned". Emisssions might be different, safety regulations might be different. Also, I'm not really sure how you get a left hand drive vehicle to be legal in the US? Besides, you wouldnt be able to go through drive thrus! haha.
I bet, the cost of getting the vehicle here and making it legal here would be almost as much as the car.

If you like the way the Commodores or HSV's look then buy a G8 and then swap all the body parts with some one over here who has an Commodore or HSV!
A lot of guys over here like the way the Pontiacs look so that would be a cheap way of doing it. If not then buy all the body parts from Holden.

It would be cheaper and easier to buy an American G8 GXP, import the bodywork and interior of the W427 (or just go with the VE GTS parts, which I actually like better), and drop in a crate LS7.
I'm actually debating right now over which car to replace my WS6 with this winter. It's going to be either a C6Z or a G8 GXP and the necessary parts to convert it to an HSV GTS. On one hand I really want the kickass-ness of the C6Z, but on the other hand I want seating for four and something really original. Decisions.:bang:

that's because all your 05 & 06 GTO's had LS2's and only our HSV Monaro's had LS2's and the rest had LS1's

well what did your ls1 put down?
IB Adrian
05-08-2009, 12:08 PM
Depended on the variant.
The Holden Monaro had ~310hp originally, but HSV also sold up to a 400hp version of the LS1 (it was a Callaway engine).
As for emissions, Australia is a little more lenient than the US, but not by much. The biggest thing in Australia, is you don't have to do any "smog" checks in any state, all you have to do is do some inspections to prove the car is safe to drive.
If you wanted this vehicle in the US, it would be easiest to just get a second hand G8, and put an LS7/clutch/transmission in it out of a crashed Z06.

Yeah, I agree if you want to have anything like the W427 without paying a fortune then you'll have to make it out of different pieces of a few cars :
G8 + HSV + Z06 = W427
Getting the HSV bodykit all the way over there might cost a bit though but At least you would have a unique car!

Why do you need right hand drive if the car is gonna be in America? If your using a G8 then it'll already be on the side you need!
Just in case I'm confused, when you say right hand drive do you mean the side of the road your driving on or the side of the car that the driver's position is?
Over here when we say right or left hand drive we are usually referring to the driver's position in the car.

over here we mean samething. i would like to sit in right side of car and drive. always wanted a right hand drive. and your right the g8 is on the correct side for america. but i like my stuff different. so i wanted a aussie car

Why not just import that one. Instead of a American equivilant? That would stand out a lot better than a G8. If Nissan skylines the older ones make it over here why can't those.

Cause it's a huge massive expensive pain in the ass to do that. Same reason R34's cost $60k here. If there had been a stateside equivalent to the R34 available, you can bet none of the JDM ones would have been imported.
In fact, depending on the state you live in, it may not even be legal or possible.

your better off just shoving an modified ls7 in a gxp and doin the body kit for less than half of what it would cost for the hsv and to get it shipped and moddified for us specs. probably close to 200k!!!wow
