Seatbelt bolt
Ok, so I'm trying to install my 5pt harness.
I bought some of those angled mount things from Jegs so my harness will be at the correct angle, so no problems there.
I went to Lowe's and matched up the stock seat belt bolt thread with a nice fancy Grade 8 bolt. Problem. The new bolts won't thread into the hole? But my stock ones will! The only thing different seems to be the stock bolts are slightly tapered at the end. Could this be the problem?
The stock bolts would have been fine, but obviously that shank is too big for the harness buckle thing, and none of my drill bits will cut through that super metal.
Any suggestions? Hardened drill bit? Different bolts? Suggestions?

I tore up a new drill bit recently trying to do the same thing. Use a dremel with a stone bit to open the hole in the harness tab a little. After I figured that out it was a two minute job.

You can get a metric bolt from Lowes that will work, it's not a grade 8, but being as big as they are I wouldn't worry much about it.
I had to open the holes up on my harness a touch even with the different bolts, dremel with a sanding drum worked fine to do what I had to do. I did go thru 2 sanding drums, but they're pretty cheap.

just a fyi for guys looking to install a 5 pt. - - with the stock bolts i would have had to drill my RCI belt brackets out for the factory torx style bolt. due to the shaft of the bolt being thicker than the actual threads. I did what was mentioned in this thread and went to the hardware store and purchased new bolts *12mm x 1.75* IIRC.
