what's wrong with Mobil1? I used Royal Purple in my CTS & didn't like it too much, went back to Mobil1 after 2 changes. I haven't done a change on the LS1 yet, but will be soon, so again, "What's wrong with Mobil1?"

I agree, im not a fan of RP. Been using Mobil 1 forever and no problems. I also hear penzoil platinum is good too. maybe a bit cheaper i think.

read the thread about RP vs. M1. M1 is all hype. its the worst oil ever made, and there are oil analysis results to prove it. im not going to get into this argument again.

https://ls1tech.com/forums/pontiac-f...mobil-1-a.html

read the results posted up there, especially the last 2 pages. check out bobistheoilguy.com for even more info. i gave away 10qts of M1 when i learned how bad it was. i would use it in my lawnmower. personally, i use nothing but GC 0w30. penz plat. is a very close 2nd, as ive been hearing very good things about that. amsoil would be tied or above penz. plat., personally.

Mobile 1 is no longer a synthetic oil, like it used to be. Royal purple is a full synthectic at $10 dllrs a quart . Now German Castrol 0w30 that is found at your local Auto Zone is a full sythetic just like Royal Purple but $4 dllrs/Quart cheaper than Royal Purple. I personally run the German Castrol im my 400+rwhp 90 supra and 97 ws6 T/A and change the oil at every 8,000 miles and oil filter at 4,000 miles with Purolator Pure One Filter. Dont believe that just because it says "full Synthetic" on the bottle it is because most of the time they are not. Now German Castrol is Castro Syntec 0w30 and in the back of the bottle its says MADE IN GERMANY thats how you know its Germna Castrol and at Operating temp its like a 30w. Dont let the 0w30 fool you all , well thats just my 2 cents good luck and if you have any question about other oils ill be glad to help...

Also, didn't that vs. thread mention that Mobil 1 isn't even allowed to be marketed as a synthetic oil in Europe? After all, it really isn't a true synthetic anymore...
