Default G-body swap questions

I have a 5.3 that I am putting a carb on and going to drop into a 78 monte. I am wondering if I can use the transadapt mounts with an f-body oil pan. And then what headers will work. I have read that the pace setter f-body headers work but I would like an 1 7/8 header.

Last question, the edelbrock victor junior says it wont fit on the 5.3. Anyone know why?

the trans dapt plate will work but you'll need to use the mounts from you're engine and the rubber mounts on the frame need to be moved back to the next set of holes on the frame I believe the holes you need to use were for the 4.3 motor mounts. you will know what im talking about as soon as you look at it with the mounts removed the holes are about 1 inch back from the v8 mount holes.

the f body pan is tight but will fit. headman has 1-7/8 swap headers for the g body. good luck with the swap and post some pics of you're progress

Any reason why you want 1 7/8 headers?? I assume you have a huge cam or are planning on a lot of nitrous. For a street driven car south of 450 FWHP 1 3/4 headers are more than enough IMHO.

Good luck with the swap. I am currently collecting parts for a LS1 swap into a 87 Monte SS.

Yea their online catalog sure is sweet. . . . . . . only took me a half hour to find the headers. Thanks for pointing it out though. I think I want long tubes. I guess I will just go with the pacesetters for now.

here are the part numbers.transdapt motor mount kit(plates and block mounts)transdapt 4592 $54.00.plates only transdapt 4572 $47.00.pacesetter headers black non emission 70-2256 $293.00. coated non emission part number 72c2256 $450.00.if you run a turbo 350 the flex plate adaptor part number is hup hp3795 $44.00 but if you have a 6.0 flywheel you might already have the flywheel spacer(they came on certain years)and you will have to oblong the flywheel holes for a turbo conv.yes the trans dapt plates will work(but i moved my motor as close to the fire wall as i could ie weight transfer)drilled the frame holes, and if you use solid moroso mounts the part number is moroso 62510 i had to use the tall ones(2 and three qtr inch) to clear my truck pan..if you use after market gauges let me know i have the part numbers for the autometer adaptors also.plus i got a trick to get rid of the acc. bracket so all you'll have is the alt water pump and crank and cost less than 30 bucks minus serpentine belt.let me know if i can help..billy ps almost forgot this is summit racing part numbers and their number is 1-800-230-3030

if you dont like the way that oil filler sticks up,just turn on it and pop it out and the cap goes right back in the valve cover...

Thanks. I need to pull it back out tonight and move the frame mounts forward a hole. I dont have to have to beat the crap out of my firewall as much as it looks like is needed. But it is sitting in there with a truck oil pan and LOTS of room.
