when we did my friends we didnt use it. You can try the thread locker that looks like a glue stick it seems a little thicker and wont wipe off as easy. im doing my cam next weekend and thats what im gunna try

I know you will probably hear alot of naysayers on this one but I have never run threadlocker on that bolt. Torque it properly and you will be fine.

Ditto. Properly torqued (read: the bolt is stretched) you don't need it. If you aren't torquing it, then threadlocker may be needed.

also i couldnt get the pick up tube down enough to just slide the pump on so i kinda half *** had it in the pump a little bit to get the pump on but i think the o ring still seated properly cuz it had room once i got the pump on to pull the pick up tube out a bit and push it in but i was wondering if its pretty easy to get the tube pushed in wrong and chew up that o ring or if its not very likely it does that?

You'll be fine as long as the o-ring is properly seated. It was on the pickup tube, right?

If it pulled up nice and straight without binding and is now flush to the pump inlet, you should be fine.

I've never used any type of sealer/locker on the p/u tube bolt.

Make sure your tube is completely flush on the pump before cranking down the bolt. If it's cocked just a little bit, and you've got even as small as a .015 gap, it will leak and you'll lose oil pressure.

Yep. I just did a motor swap not long ago because of that very reason. Somebody didn't seat the tube properly and cranked down the bolt anyway. It bent the bracket that the bolt sits on, and didn't seat the o-ring completely. The motor ran low on oil pressure for a while until it got the bearings...Game over.

i put one in my 408 build.
i have one of the 1st pieces. had to grind on the part and on the cover a lil bit.
BRP has made a post since saying they have changed the design.
part of it may be due to the double roller chain.
i bought it for peace of mine.
ive got 50 pounds at idle on a ported stock pump.

I found the best way to get the tube lined up with the pump was to tighten the pickup tube bolt all the way before tightening the bolts that mount the pump. This way the pump can float/move around which allows the tube to properly align without putting it in a bind. If it gets in a bind it will damage the o-ring and you won't find out until you have it running.

I have never used any thread lock on that bolt, just did it to German Specs...goodntight. Also, if your trying to place the pick up tube back in the oil pump, you can drop the pan down a little bit to give you a bit more room.....and just make sure you dont crimp the O ring in any way. Make sure its seated properly....
