Need opinions...Ecsta MX or NT05's
It's finally time to replace my BFG-Force KD's & since they are no longer made, I'm looking to get as close to that type of tire as possible.
My car is never driven in the rain, so that is one aspect that I could care less about. It's currently making 405 RWHP, but I don't go to the track much at all. What I want is a tire that will launch well on the street, but still have a stiff sidewall for great handling & responce, much like my old KD's did. Road noise is also no concern since the car will wake the dead anyway.
The price on the Kumho Escta MX & the Nitto MT-05 is the same. One thing that concerns me about the Nittos is that I've always read that the contact patch is narrow compared to other tires & I like how wide my KD's look in a 275 width. I didn't know if that same review applied to these new NT-05's or not, but that could also be a factor for me.
I've read all the reviews on Tirerack's website for the MX's & they sound pretty good, but there is not much to compare to the Nitto since it's brand new.
Any thoughts or comments are appriciated!

Forget the MX - that's old school.. The new Kumho XS will be grippier, and they're priced within $5 of the NT-05. I like the NT-05, but the XS was designed for autocrossers, so they'll come up to temp quickly and be sticky..

I have the MX's and I like the tire a lot. It is a little on the noisey side but it doesn't bother me, just a tad louder than stock. I think these tires run a little wider than the BFG's. I only say that based on pictures of a 295 on a 11" wide wheel. Most pics of the BFG's on an 11" wheel they look a little stretched. My MX's are nice and square on my CCW's.

I love the MX's, had them on for 1 1/2 years before I changed the set out. Lasted longer than I had thought and had no problems. I really like the new XS but the treadwear is like my other set of rears, the Falken RT-615's, plus I wasn't very happy with the R/Ts.
Go with the MX's, you'll be very happy!

I just purchased a set of NT05's and their sitting in my garage waiting to go on. If you like the wide look i'd buy the 285's...the Nittos seem to run true to size...my 295's are 11.65 inches wide. And by the way, if they ride anywhere how they look, im going to be real happy!
