Default Too loud!

Ok guys,

I know that slowmaster chokes some power so I thought I would jump that hunk of **** off and just have a straight pipe welded on coming out the back on the car to on side.

Well i knew it would be loud, buy DAMN! I've have a few cars with 350's and 454's and heard them open header and this is pretty close to how they sound.

Basically like running a cutout I guess. I hope I don't get pulled over. I was thinking about putting one of those tiny off road race muffler that flowmaster makes, I like the way they sound.

Any of you guys who run around with your cutout open all the time get into any trouble for running it like that?\

Anybody ever been hassled about not haveing their cats and muffler?

When I sold my Formula it was cammed, LT's ORY, to a 12 inch bullet muffler and dumped right under the passenger rear seat. Sounded really good. It was loud but not to loud.

I'm sure yours is very loud. A friend of mine has headers, ory, and the loudmouth, and I can't tolerate it. I have duals with one chambers and it sounds great. you could do a dumped one chamber and it would tone it down considerably. However, if you run one dumped muffler, I would consider a 3.5-4" I-Pipe, so that it flows enough for future mods.

A 12 inch bullet muffler ???

There are plenty of mufflers out there that are only 2-3 hp less than straight pipe. I would check out Magnaflow, nice deep mellow tone at cruising speed. Screams at WOT

Sorry I shouldn't say bullet muffer. It was a Dynomax ultra flow. Basically enough to cut down on any rasp in the exhaust.

This was a very similar setup I previously ran but it was a little louder and had a rasp at 2700 to 3000 rpm so I switched it.

I have a cut out thats usually always open. When it's capped, like it is now (SUCKS)wife was bitching it rattled the house at 5am when I left(garage kept), it goes through the Magnaflow. Those are really quite. I hate it. If I could I would do a LM. I heard those are loud.

Yeah, I thought that it had grown on me and wasn't loud until I got into it again today and I was driving and bearly got on it and saw a cop on the other side of an overpass and he pulled out as soon as I came by.

I turned onto a side street and never saw him again, lol. Hopefully he wasn't comeing after me..

if you cant stand the heat, get out of the street!

you shouldnt have any problems in the houston area... id just throw a chambered muffler in the I pipe and call it a day

EDIT: i have 1 7/8 LT catted Y and tsp rumbler and its too quiet at idle for me, however it does wake my neighbors (maybe its the fact that im only 19)
never-the-less, ive never had any problems about the exhaust

I'm pretty much LM right now. I've seen those mufflers and they aint **** but a straight pipe. At least the LM1, not even a baffle.

I might throw on a muffler, I'm not sure yet.

If anybody knows a inspection place in the clear lake, league city area please let me know.

I have a cam, LTs, ORY, and a Magnamouth(SLP LM1 catback with a Magnaflow bullet muffler in place of the LM1 resonator(straight pipe at best haha).

I love loud...but with the LM1 resonator in it would actually pierce your ears and cause pain if you were standing behind the car while it was revved to 4500 rpms. It also had a ton of rasp from 2100-2700 rpms under acceleration(even very light) So I got the Magnaflow bullet muffler and that is still a straight through design but has baffling. This took out almost all of the rasp and made it a hair quieter. Now you can live to hear another day. I also have 4.10s so when I drive through towns or cities I run it around 1100 rpms(if i go lower she wants to start to cam buck) in what ever gear I can. I prefer to avoid the po-po as best I can.

I have ran my car without cats or mufflers since i started modifying my car. My previous setup was bbk shorties with hallowed out cats and no mufflers, just str8 pipe all the way out and i had another y pipe at the end to split the exhaust so i culd git sum nice tips welded on. My current setup I have pacesetter longtubes ORY with no cats or mufflers either and a cutout plate! Along with cam, heads, bolt ons, etc. and my car is a DD. I think it sounds very good and aggresive but of course for some its a lil to much. Just depends on your preference. And also, as many times as ive been pulled over in my car theyve mentioned my exhaust only once but no ticket and i live in california!
