Default converter problems

Well I had the s10 for a while now and its been tru 3 converters. And the last 2. Have been junk the one it came with it would launch pretty hard. It hat about a 3000 stall the brand I aint sure of. I didn't re use it since my brother let the trans and converter fall. And it cracked the trans bell housing and I am pretty sure the converter was bent some how. And the 2nd converter felt like a slipping clutch. It was a 10 inch I believe. 4500 stall b and m I think it felt like it never engauged. So I changed it for a hughes 12.5 2200 stall it does stall that much but it feels like it has a gigantic load. My question is do I have to go with a small converter? Or what's the problem. I don't wanna waste money again I just want to get one more converter and that's it. Its for a 350trans btw.
