Low Oil Light
Had my low oil light come on today. This is more of a peace of mind thread. I'm right at 5000 miles on the oil and changing it this weekend. I know these ******* burn around .5qt normally but just wanted to make sure I'm not downplaying anything here.

Man usually when my light comes on, that sob is extremely low and I mean like pull over now and put oil low. My girlfriend drives it and she never checks the oil so it happens quite a bit.

I use Royal Purple 5W-30. I've only changed the oil once so I don't have a baseline to go off of. Normally it won't see above 3000rpm on a normal drive, but i get into it at least once every trip. Nothing unsafe though. Never above 5500rpm I'd say.

Dude we cannot let women drive our cars. The other day I checked the oil, power steering, brake, clutch, and coolant and they were all dangerously low. I showed her how to check all that and she said she did'nt think it was time to check it because the low power steering fluid light did'nt come on or any of the others.

Here's a link to LS1 oil consumption explorations from the Idaho Corevettes site. It has some good information that might be relevent.

A lot of Fbody LS1s drink oil through the PCV for sure. I would think the oil has to be more than a quart low for the dummy light to come on as I have never seen mine although I've had it a quart low on occasion.
