im looking at getting a used harlan two step and since it doesnt have the ability to retard timing, will i still be able to build any boost at the line in a 6 speed?

Absolutely! Mine would make 5psi in about 3-4 seconds as-installed with no tuning for it.

It should help, but mine worked just fine and relatively quickly without the retard and I have a six speed. A lot of the speed depends on the RPM you set it at. At 4500 mine would come in really quickly.

Mine is a front mount. In 4th where load is high, I'd have to log to say for sure but it comes on WAY low.

I also have a Harlan, got it used. It works great with a 6 spd, and gets me about 4-5psi too, normally set at 4500-5000. Even if you don't build much boost, they are spooled up when I release the clutch. There is no lag and boost comes on instantly! Love it! Also nice just because the launch rpm is set, so you can mat it and focus on the tree.

Even though they're not made anymore, there's still LPE and Synergy available to do the same thing and more. I hear that Synergy has a cool transbrake feature for the automatics.

How does it work? What does it do exactly? Is it required with Auto and high stall/transbrake?

leaky pipes feeding the turbo? At 4K mine brought my 76mm GTS up pretty darn fast. If I let the car put more fuel into it it came up even faster...
