how much hp gain do u think i would get going from a stock 241 head to a stock 243 head?

i have noticed u can get a used set of 243 ls6 heads for a decent price. just dont no if it would even be worth it. does anyone know what the differences are.

with a mild cam....10-20hp is easily possible

while you're swapping them, spend a small amount and have them milled...boost compression for more power

The 243's have a 64 cc combustion chamber and the 241's have a 66.67 cc combustion chamber. The 243's also have a D shaped exhaust port and flow a little better. Do like teke184 said and get them milled for even more compression.

if i mill them a little would that put me around the race gas compression zone.

not sure they are worth $500 unless they come with good springs already.

that's alot for a stock head.

ported heads are only about 2x that, and they'll flow much better.


you can run 11:1 or higher and still use 93. you shuold be fine.

How about going from 853's to the 243's. The 853's are the worst flowing of them all correct?

HMM maybe ported heads are only a little more than that.

853's flow the same as 241's. 243's would be better than 853's.
