Default Steel vs Aluminum--Weight Difference

Any one know roughly the difference in weight between a 16x7" steel and aluminum rim?

Significant.

Go to lowes. they have flatbar in the Hardware area. pick up a Aluminum and a Steel flat bar. That should give you a good idea.

The reason i ask is I can get a set of 4 stell wheels which will work good for winter tires and I thought of using two of them for track tires in the summer. Or I can get a pair of cheap 15" AL wheels for the track and get a set of other wheels for the winter.
I am kind of leaning towards the 15" track wheels anyway.
